Building a Successful Business: Deliver outstanding business outcomes through teamwork

The Leadership Consortium, one of Australia’s most respected leadership development organisations, plays a key role in the learning and development of current and future leaders.

For almost 20 years we have been designing and delivering leading edge executive learning and development programs to senior leaders in private and public organisations.

The Consortium is a member-based organisation with a blend of public and private membership. Our current membership includes: AGC, Australia Post, Australian Taxation Office, Boral Limited, CitiPower / Powercor, Dept of Finance & Deregulation, Geoscience Australia, IBM Australia Limited, Medibank Private, National Australia Bank, Roads and Traffic Authority, The Shell Company of Australia Ltd, Victorian Public Service (several departments and authorities).

Continuing our tradition of providing excellence, the Consortium is proud to offer the Building a Successful Business program, which is one of the Consortium’s specialist programs. It simultaneously develops leadership and business success.

Building a Successful Business

Senior leaders across our membership have attended and recommended the Building a Successful Business program for its effective combination of leadership and strategic business development.

The program is co-designed with four member organisations who agree to work together and share learnings. This powerful design provides exceptional cross organisational learning opportunities.

It builds practical business skills at three levels:

  • individual – identification of personal capabilities and improvement strategies;
  • group – team development strategies and cross-silo working skills;
  • organisation – capacity to assist and influence the business performance of the enterprise.

Target Audience

This program will particularly suit your organisation’s senior leaders, especially those reporting to the top levels of the organisation.

Previous participants include:

  • Finance Controller
  • Policy & Project Officer
  • Assistant Director - Security
  • Territory Account Manager

Building a Successful Business addresses the key capabilities (highlighted in red) required of high performing leaders.

Program format and style

Building a Successful Business uses team-based action learning principles to develop outstanding business performance.

The program has had great success in helping participants increase their customer focus, ability to influence and motivate others, build a high performing team and impact organisational performance.

The centrepiece of the program is a five-day residential workshop.

Organisational Project

Each member provides 5-7 high potential executives who work in a team on an agreed project that has strategic and business importance for their organisation.

Working with a Project Sponsor, the teams scope an internal project which is then taken to the five-day residential workshop.

The proposal is tested and developed into a workable business opportunity by the team and by other workshop participants.

On completion of the program (10 weeks in total) teams then present their project to the Board/Executive of their organisation.

Program Leaders

The facilitators for this program are Richard Jones and Michelle Morrison, two of Australia’s most experienced consultants and executive coaches.

Both Richard and Michelle have extensive experience in executive learning and coaching. Over many years they have worked internationally as consultants and academics with the most prestigious, high performing enterprises.
