The Influential Leader: Utilising your leadership capabilities for the greatest organisational impact

The Leadership Consortium, one of Australia’s most respected leadership development organisations, plays a key role in the learning and development of current and future leaders.

For almost 20 years we have been designing and delivering leading edge executive learning and development programs to senior leaders in private and public organisations.

The Consortium is a member-based organisation with a blend of public and private membership. Our current membership includes: AGC, Australia Post, Australian Taxation Office, Boral Limited, CitiPower / Powercor, Dept of Finance & Deregulation, Geoscience Australia, IBM Australia Limited, Medibank Private, National Australia Bank, Roads and Traffic Authority, The Shell Company of Australia Ltd, Victorian Public Service (several departments and authorities).

Continuing our tradition of providing excellence, the Consortium is proud to offer The Influential Leader program, which is a leadership development program that is closely aligned to the range of skills required for Functional and Business Unit Leaders in your organisation.

The Influential Leader program

Senior leaders across our membership have attended and recommended The Influential Leader program in the past. They have recommended it for its relevance, challenge and provision of practical leadership tools and techniques, as well as the great networking opportunities it provides.

The program brings together senior leaders from the Consortium’s member base in a challenging environment that builds individual capacity to develop teams, inspire commitment, use emotional intelligence and develop professional networks.

It emphasises the strategic benefits of building effective partnerships across silos to achieve improved performance across the organisation.

The program focuses powerfully on personal and interpersonal practice as a critical leadership capability. This is a very rich program for those who want to develop their capacity to work in a complex stakeholder landscape with a blend of individual, team and organisational focus.

Target Audience

This program will particularly suit your organisation’s Functional and Business Unit leaders with accountabilities for one or multiple teams; responsibility for building strategic relationships; influencing and motivating others, leading and managing change and understanding organisational dynamics .

  • Manager – Finance & Services

framework

The Influential Leader program focuses on each of the highlighted leadership competencies in The Consortium’s leadership framework above.

Program format and style

The Influential Leader program uses action learning principles to develop participants’ awareness of their own style and approach.

In doing so, it helps participants expand their perspective on how their decisions and strategies affect the business performance of the whole enterprise.

The program includes:

  • interactive sessions with role model leaders
  • cross-organisational peer-to-peer and group sessions that focus on practical leadership issues
  • culture-mapping exercise - a powerful experiential event in which participants interact with a local community to develop their awareness of organisational dynamics and appropriate responses to complex situations
  • one-on-one coaching with Australia’s most experienced executive coaches.

The centrepiece of the program is a five-day intensive residential workshop. The program makes a deliberate and effective connection between learning off-site, application in the workplace, through a Personal Action Project (see below) and follow up coaching after the residential program.

Program Leaders

The facilitators for this program are Richard Jones and Larry Marlow, two of Australia’s most experienced consultants and executive coaches. Both Richard and Larry have extensive experience in the field of executive learning and in developing the leadership skills of both individuals and organisations within Australia and overseas.
