For almost 20 years we have been designing and delivering leading edge executive learning and development programs to senior leaders in private and public organisations.
The Consortium is a member-based organisation with a blend of public and private membership. Our current membership includes: AGC, Australia Post, Australian Taxation Office, Boral Limited, CitiPower / Powercor, Dept of Finance & Deregulation, Geoscience Australia, IBM Australia Limited, Medibank Private, National Australia Bank, Roads and Traffic Authority, The Shell Company of Australia Ltd, Victorian Public Service (several departments and authorities).
Continuing our tradition of providing excellence, the Consortium is proud to offer the Internal Consulting Program, which is one of the Consortium’s specialist programs. It is closely aligned to the range of skills required for technical specialists who are moving into more strategic roles with responsibility for influencing a broad range of stakeholders.
The Internal Consulting program
The Internal Consulting Program will help content specialists and project managers build cross-organisational skills and improve their effectiveness as internal consultants.
It builds business capability by helping participants understand:
- how they operate – the impact of choices and decisions on their own success and business performance;
- consulting skills – high level personal skills in listening, negotiating, influencing and decision-making;
- how to move from a technical specialist to a trusted advisor contributing to strategic outcomes.
The Internal Consulting program addresses key characteristics of successful practice for effective advisors, project managers and internal consultants (highlighted in red)..
Target Audience
This program will particularly suit your organisations technical specialists in any area of specialisation including IT&T, finance, law, accounting and human resources. Outcomes of the program mean that participants will contribute more to the success of the whole enterprise by enhancing their ability to determine stakeholder needs, manage expectations and influence outcomes across the organisation.
Previous participants include:
- IT Projects Team Leader
- Quality Control Manager
- Data Research Officer
- Service Delivery Manager
- Operations Supervisor
Program format and style
The Internal Consulting Program is an ideal middle level program for content specialists.
In the challenging two-day workshop, participants will learn how to deliver improved outcomes through:
- more effective conversations during the engagement stage
- greater ownership of the consulting process from end to end
- reduced over-runs and hold-ups;
- enhanced planning and preparation;
- smoother internal and external consultation.
The program uses a range of action learning techniques, tested theory for technical experts working in complex environments and practice to build both understanding and performance.
The Internal Consulting Program focuses on building those essential interpersonal leadership skills that allow successful internal consultants to manage complex stakeholder relationships, achieve results and generate the buy-in of others.
Program Leaders
The facilitators for this program are Mark Spatz and Chris Keogh, two of Australia’s most experienced leadership development consultants.
Both Mark and Chris have worked with executives and groups at the highest levels of many of our largest organisations. They have expertise, flair and an engaging approach that invites learning in an atmosphere that is intellectually challenging and develops practical skills.
