Continuing our tradition of providing excellence, The Consortium is proud to offer The New Leader program, which is closely aligned to the skills and competencies demanded of high potential managers in your organisation.

The New Leader program

The New Leader program provides a broad range of management tools and approaches.

It is a high-powered, business-focused program that will appeal to operational managers who have the drive to move into senior positions in the near future.

The program will build the leadership skills and orientation of early-to-mid career high potential managers who have at least one year’s experience in a management role.

Program participants come from a range of backgrounds that can include operational, project-based, customer-facing or functional roles.

This is an energising, challenging program for people who have demonstrated clear leadership capabilities and are keen to advance into more senior strategic and business positions.

Target Audience

This program will particularly suit your organisation’s managers who are in the early stages of their career and are eager to broaden their ability to influence and motivate others, to build a high performing team and to better understand organisational .

Previous participants include:.

  • Project Leader
  • Assistant Manager
  • Program Manager
  • Sales Account Manager
  • Senior Registrar
  • Operations Manager

The New Leader program focuses on the leadership competencies described in The Consortium’s leadership framework above.

Program format and style

The New Leader program is a thought provoking, action-focused program in which participants learn both by doing and by exploring their own reactions to complex business situations. It will:

  • deepen individuals’ awareness of how they themselves are currently travelling in their job and career. They will understand more about how to handle change with insight and skill;
  • ‘reality–check’ their understanding of the skill set demanded from successful business leaders. This will include identifying critical capabilities and planning for future skill development;
  • further develop participants’ ‘big picture’ strategic skills. The program deals with what is involved in moving from an operational focus to a broader and more strategic perspective;
  • explore future development options, including the capabilities required at higher levels; career makers and breakers; and the most important skills for higher level leadership roles.

The program uses a proven range of styles and strategies to build insights in participants about their personal approach and professional capabilities.

The program achieves these powerful outcomes through a blend of experiential design, state-of-the- art diagnostics, cross-organisational group work, peer presentations, profiling sessions and discussions.
